The Laguna Niguel Bocce Club hosted its annual Southern California Regional Open bocce tournament Sunday, July 17. It was held at Marina Hills Park Bocce Courts and over 100 bocce players and fans joined the festivities. Eighteen four person teams played in the double elimination draw. The games were played to eleven points and the winner moving on and the loser playing in the consolation run.
Teams came from San Diego to Los Angles to play. The weather was perfect with sunny skies, ocean breezes and temperatures in the mid 70’s. The tournament started at 8:30 in the morning after having a continental breakfast. Everyone enjoyed a delicious Italian buffet lunch mid-way through the tournament. One of the local Laguna Niguel Bocce Clubs teams, Quattro Amici placed second and proudly wore their medals. First place was won by Snafu, from Rancho Bernard.
