Yesterday I received the sad news that Pete Rossi past away. He was the oldest member of the club and played nearly every day until he was 95. We called him Old Pete out of affection and not to confuse him Pietro the capo of the bocce courts.
Early every morning you could find Pete sitting in his car reading the newspaper waiting for players to arrive. As soon as Pietro opened the shed and began grooming the courts, Pete would help pick up the leaves on the courts and sweep the sidewalks. He always took new players under his wing and showed them the basics of Bocce. Pete was a positive role model for everyone he came in contact with. He led a full and interesting life as a college professor and he trained air force pilots during the World War 2. We all miss Old Pete’s cheery hello and pleasant demeanor.
